YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

The human health has food as its basis and supports, the body require food to grow and maintain life. Food is the energy source to the physical body. Food is the essence of life, as the food so the body, as the food so the mind and even life span.

The food industry is an indispensable branch of human race, food business can never go bad,  because human beings, animals, and plants must eat,  eating is the soul of living; but the question is,  do we live to eat,  or eat to live?  The answer is that we are meant to eat to live and not to live to eat. What does that mean?  Just eat for the sake of survival.
     ,  to live carries the choose message of moderation and right dieting at the right time while living to eat carries the message of excess feeding, wrong diet, and wrong timing and lack of self-control. Eating involves a lot of are and discrimination; all food types are not consumable and healthy.
As a yogi if you're hungry, want to make progress in yoga practice, then you must work on your diet, a yoga student has to go green.  A yogi can only make better progress if there's moderation in eating, this doesn't mean self-punishment, and it means refinement and practical application of wisdom. Self-knowledge means that one must discriminate between poison and food. so the question is what exactly is right for human consumption? I would like to take you back to your bible, the bible instructs man on the right or proper food to eat... I quote...
Genesis 1:29 " And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you, it shall be for food:"
 Don't eat to a point where you can't get up from the dining spot. Quoting  George Bernard Shaw, about humans making their bodies graveyards….
"I choose not to make a graveyard of my body for the rotting corpses of dead animals."
― George Bernard Shaw

 If you love yourself then you should not subject your body to garbage tank or graveyard, one must love his or her body,  if you love your body then you must Endeavour not to make your precious body a graveyard. Eco solution begins with our food intake. Eat natural foods and avoid synthetic foods. All kinds of sickness are as a result denatured food and the food industries are also contributing in depleting our ecosystem, so we must try to start the green revolution from our diet.  A yogi is a lover of nature and that begins with his diet and approach to the natural environment. The Buddist approach to world peace says that  "By eating meat we share the responsibility of climate change, the destruction of our forests, and the poisoning of our air and water. The simple act of becoming a vegetarian will make a difference in the health of our planet."
― {Thich Nhat Hanh, The World We Have: A Buddhist Approach to Peace and Ecology.} So it's very key to watch our food sources, some of us may not really figure the root cause of our health problems, especially weight and fat challenges. Believe me or not some of the denatured foods has some chemicals that are killing you silently. When I was running a course on paramedics, my teacher told us that when he was in medical school that they find it very difficult to see a cancer patient conduct practical assignment on, but our world is full of so many cancerous stuff.
  A proper yoga student should progress to take to the following lifestyle…..
A yogi must avoid late night food
A yogi must eat and leave space for water and air, in that case, a yogi should eat slowly and not in a hurry. Don't eat under pressure and anxiety
A yogi should drink water 30minutes or 1 hour before and after a meal in other not to interrupt with digestion.
A yogi should avoid too much spicy or hot food.
A yogi should try to practice vegetarianism,  there are four types of vegetarian life, one can start by quitting beef and gradually move to the elimination of fish, with time also eliminate eggs. If possible veganism is the best of it, or 70% raw and 30% cooked.
A yogi should try and snack more on organic foods.
The size of your food per meal shouldn't be bigger than the size of your fist, but eating 6times a day is ideal.
One should practice fast water or fruit and vegetable juice therapy once a month to detoxify the body.
Eat 6 times daily eat your dinner before 6 pm, make your dinner very lit.
The subtle influence of food intake affects the mind, in yoga philosophy, there are three categories of foods that are classified as follows.
Satwic{goodness calmness}
Rajasic{passion-active}
Tamasic{ignorance-dull}
Even Albert Einstein encouraged that the vegetarian life has a positive effect on the human temperament, I quote…
 "It is my view that the vegetarian manner of living, by its purely physical effect on the human temperament, would most beneficially influence a lot of mankind."
― Albert Einstein
That's a quote from Albert Einstein, as the food so the temperament.

:
Anyway, Yoga as a holistic science includes a proper diet as a lifestyle, diet and yoga don't exist without each other, the picture of a healthy food maybe is the constant reason of inquiry for many persons who are searching for a perfect diet for a healthy body. In the fitness and health industry it sounds more like the vegetarian thing isn't that real and must, while some health writers are also of the opinion that people can eat anything in moderation, and that man has always been eating meat right from time immemorial, anyway that doesn't justify the act of animal killings.
 "People often say that humans have always eaten animals as if this is a justification for continuing the practice. According to this logic, we should not try to prevent people from murdering other people, since this has also been done since the earliest of times."
― Isaac Bashevis Singerethics
The truth is that if you can slaughter animal then you can also kill a human.

       Some health writers also believe and postulates that our blood group determines our food type, but the Hallelujahcombined diet man, Reverend George M. Malkmus (1934- ) has a different view that supports the vegetarian ideology; his views are so real and very practical, he had cancer at age 42 and the parents also died of cancer after the famous chemotherapy treatment.  Reverend George M Malkmus, used natural fruits and vegetable juices to eliminate his colon cancer and other serious medical issues of about 25 years ago. George Malkmus and his wife Rhonda Jean advocates a diet based on Biblical principles, he postulates that the bible never instructs man to partake of meat.  Himself and his wife Rhonda Jean advocates a natural vegetarian diet in a brand name of Hallelujah diet as a biblical principle. If you haven't read his books, I recommend you do so, he has countless testimonies of how himself and the wife used fresh vegetables and fruits juices to eliminate cancer, arthritis, bad eyesight, diabetes, etc.
    However, fruits and vegetables, rich in fibers and vitamins should be an idea major component of a yogi's daily intake. Furthermore, today medical experts are now blowing the trumpet that people should run away from meat due to heart diseases and so many other health challenges associated with meat.  meat takes about 72 hours to digest,  experts says meat has uric acid that settles around the joints and leads to arthritis, and the cholesterol in meat thickens the inner walls of the arteries{Arteriosclerosis  } which could also lead to congestion and improper flow, the human body naturally was not design to digest meat, so everything that can be defined as natural food has been recommended for healthy long life. yoga life recommends vegetarian life for better progress not just for health reasons alone, but compassionate, towards lower creatures,
     As a yogi you are not supposed to take away life, non-violence is very important for universal peace, quoting from a great man you may know   "Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages."
― Thomas A. Edison
Even Thomas Edison promotes vegetarian life as one best means to peace, though our major focus here is physical and mental health. Anyway life is a choice and wellbeing has natural rules that respect nobody, so wellbeing is a choice, when it comes to preserving your state of well being you must follow natural natures. Quoting from Scott Adams….
 "You're thinking I'm one of those wise-ass California vegetarians who are going to tell you that eating a few strips of bacon is bad for your health. I'm not. I say its a free country and you should be able to kill yourself at any rate you choose, as long as your cold dead body is not blocking my driveway."
― Scott Adams
Hahahaha that quote is funny, but he's correct life is a matter of choice. Vegetarian diet combined with regular yoga practice can make remain forever young. For sure we must grow old and drop this physical body someday, but then aging gracefully is a tonic I'm sure everyone would want to experience in this life, so it begins with your diet, at a very young age the organs are still strong, you may not understand the importance of diet till old age starts setting and sickness starts to condition us not to do this and that. The best time to chose a lifestyle is at the younger stage of one's life before you get to the manifesting stage.
    If you watch how our so called meat is been produced and stilled go back eating meat, then you don't love yourself. I quote Jonathan Safran….
"Perhaps in the back of our minds, we already understand, without all the science I've discussed, that something terribly wrong is happening. Our sustenance now comes from misery. We know that if someone offers to show us a film on how our meat is produced, it will be a horror film. We perhaps know more than we care to admit, keeping it down in the dark places of our memory-- disavowed. When we eat factory-farmed meat we live, literally, on tortured flesh. Increasingly, that tortured flesh is becoming our own."
― Jonathan Safran Foer, Eating Animals
Think about your diet and make a decision today, you don't stand to lose anything if you don't eat meat. if you really want to make considerable progress in yoga then try practicing vegetarianism just for one month and see the difference between veg life and non-veg life. I know some of you might feel I'm been too dogmatic about this vegetarian thing but trust this is just the naked truth. I must tell you that it could be the reason you don't lose that weight even after making all kinds of exercises your lifestyle, you have to work on your diet and vegetarianism is the idea dieting and not those rigorous crash diet plan that subjects you to torture and also bring you back two times your normal size.

     Despite the fact that many health conscious persons try to eat as little as possible for the fear of weight gain, one has to look at proper nutrition in mind, the body requires balanced healthy diet to function well. Nevertheless, do not exaggerate when eating, even if you are consuming healthy food, because you feel it will not have the same beneficial effect on you. Try to listen to your body,  stop eating once you are no more hungry, or, even better, stop before you get to the full saturation state remember you have to eat and give space for air and water. By so doing, for sure you will come to the realization of fatigue, which we all sometimes experience after eating, is considerably diminished, while your energy level goes up substantially.
AS I end this topic at this point I encourage to always reflect on this passages of the bible if you are a true believer of the holy bible as you make your personal decision today to work on your diet.
 Genesis 1:29  " And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you, it shall be for food:"
"And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." — 2.

"But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the royal rations of food and wine … Then Daniel asked … ‘Let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink.' … At the end of ten days, it was observed that they appeared better and fatter than all the young men who had been eating the royal rations." —Daniel 1:8, 11–12, 15Genesis 1:30
If you're Christian and  After reflecting over these passages and you still do not see anything wrong in animal killing then you need to change your faith.
Like I said before now my focus is physical and mental health with yoga. But then animal killing and flesh eating are unethical. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi….

"Ethically they had arrived at the conclusion that man's supremacy over lower animals meant not that the former should prey upon the latter, but that the higher should protect the lower, and that there should be mutual aid between the two as between man and man. They had also brought out the truth that man eats not for enjoyment but to live."
― Mahatma Gandhi

Benefits of Yoga 2

Benefits of Yoga First, I feel it will sound very unfair to start this topic without little or more explanation and meaning of Yoga. Yoga means the unification of body mind and soul, but without going too deep into that,  I   will simply focus my discussion on the benefits of yoga as a science in two separate segments. One is the physical benefits of yoga and two is the mental benefits of yoga. Like I said earlier,  yoga means the unification of body, mind, and soul. A new aspirant in yoga would want to ask how?  Yes…  we create total harmony through yoga.  We have different types of yoga, but here today we are looking at Hatha yoga or the physical aspects of yoga which has to do with flexibility postures and breathing exercises. So looking at the two physical tools of hatha yoga we can picture the  "BREATH AND  JOINTS"   SO let's keep our attention on those two.  Hatha yoga has several poses which require synchronization of breath control and pinpointed att
